Present Continuous vs Present Simple

A: What time __________ the train to London __________ (leave) on Mondays? B: It departs at 6:30 AM sharp, so we need to be at the station early. Pytanie dotyczy stałego rozkładu jazdy (timetable), co wymaga użycia czasu Present Simple.
A: Why are you wearing a thick winter coat inside the house? B: Because I __________ (feel) really cold today. Normally, I'm fine, but I think I'm getting ill. Czasownik „feel” w tym kontekście opisuje chwilowy stan fizyczny w danym dniu, stąd Present Continuous.
A: Look at the sun! It __________ (rise) in the east and sets in the west. B: Yes, and it gives us light and warmth every single day. Stały fakt dlatego stosujemy Present Simple.
A: I can't talk right now. I __________ (make) dinner for the whole family. B: No problem, I will call you back later when you're free. Czynność dzieje się w dokładnie tej sekundzie, w której osoba rozmawia przez telefon, co wymaga Present Continuous.
A: What __________ you __________ (do) for a living? B: I work as a graphic designer in a small agency in the city centre. Pytanie o stały zawód i zajęcie wykonywane na co dzień wymaga użycia Present Simple.
A: My brother __________ (live) in Manchester at the moment, but he's moving back next month. B: Oh, I didn't know he moved up north! Określenie „at the moment” wskazuje na sytuację tymczasową (okres przejściowy w życiu), co wyrażamy za pomocą Present Continuous.

A: Look! That man __________ (try) to open the back window of our car! B: Quick, call the police right now! Słowo „Look!” sygnalizuje akcję rozgrywającą się w polu widzenia w tym konkretnym momencie (Present Continuous).
A: I __________ (prefer) tea over coffee in the mornings. B: Fair enough, I'm the exact opposite; I need strong coffee to wake up. Czasownik „prefer” wyraża stałe upodobanie/stan, dlatego używamy go w Present Simple.

A: Listen to that! The wind __________ (blow) so hard outside tonight. B: It sounds like a severe storm. („Listen to that!”) Coś dzieje się teraz wymaga czasu Present Continuous.
A: My dad __________ (work) as a manager for an international car company. B: Does he travel a lot for his job or mostly stay in the office? Stała praca i ogólna sytuacja zawodowa opisywane są w czasie Present Simple.
A: Why __________ you __________ (use) my laptop today? Where is yours? B: Mine is being repaired at the service centre, so I had to borrow yours. Korzystanie z cudzego laptopa to sytuacja tymczasowa, ograniczona do dzisiejszego dnia (Present Continuous).
A: Oh no, not again! He __________ (always / forget) my birthday! B: That's terrible, you've known each other for over ten years! Wyrażenie żalu i frustracji z powodu permanentnie powtarzanego, denerwującego błędu za pomocą Present Continuous i „always”.
A: How often __________ you __________ (go) to the gym? B: I go about three times a week to stay fit and healthy. Pytanie o częstotliwość i stałą rutynę ćwiczeń wymaga użycia Present Simple.
A: Shh! The baby __________ (sleep), so please don't slam the front door. B: Got it, I'll walk as quietly as possible. Czynność trwająca w momencie mówienia (wstrzymanie hałasu ze względu na śpiące dziecko) wymaga Present Continuous.
A: What __________ this word __________ (mean) in Polish? B: It means „wyzwanie” – you can use it in many different contexts. Znaczenie słów to stała definicja, dlatego używamy Present Simple.
A: I __________ (stay) at my uncle's house this week while my parents are away. B: That's nice, do you have your own room there? Pobyt u wujka trwa tylko w tym tygodniu, co czyni go sytuacją tymczasową (Present Continuous).
