| Assess | To carefully check how well something meets a goal |
| Assessment | A way to check what you know or how well something works |
| Brainstorm | To share lots of ideas to solve a problem |
| Client | A person who uses a business or professional service |
| Creativity | The ability to think of new ideas |
| Criteria | Rules or standards used to judge a solution |
| Constraint | A limit, such as time, money, space, or materials |
| Design | A plan or idea for solving a problem |
| Design Brief | A written description of a problem, requirements, and limits |
| Design Process | Steps used to solve a problem and create a solution |
| Design Statement | A statement explaining what a solution should accomplish |
| Designer | A person who creates plans, drawings, or ideas |
| Engineer | A person who uses math, science, and technology to solve problems |
| Engineering Notebook | A notebook used to record engineering work, ideas, and designs |
| Innovation | An improvement to something that already exists |
| Invention | Something new that has not existed before |
| Iterative | Repeating steps to improve a design |
| Justifiable | Something that can be explained as reasonable or fair |
| Piling-On | Adding an idea that builds on someone else's idea |
| Problem Identification | Recognizing and clearly stating a problem |
| Product | Something that is made for people to use |
| Prototype | A test version or model of a design |
| Research | Studying information to learn more about a topic or problem |
| Valid | Correct, accurate, and supported by evidence |
