Lesson 1 Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Scale A ratio that tells the relationship between a length in a drawing, map, or model and the actual length.
Scale drawing A drawing in which the measurements correspond to the measurements of the actual object by the same scale.
Scale factor A factor that relates the corresponding side lengths of a figure and a scale drawing (or scale copy) of the figure.
Area The amount of space inside a closed two-dimensional figure; measured in square units such as square centimeters.
Dimension Length in one direction; a figure may have one, two, or three.
Unit rate The numerical part of a rate.
Actual Real or existing, not a model or copy.
Justify To explain why something is correct or incorrect by giving logical reasons.
