QuestionAnswer
compress "squishes" or ¨shrinks¨ the curve of a function toward one of the coordinate axes. This happens when you multiply part of the function by a constant
congruent identical in both size and shape
corresponding matching parts or positions that lie in the same relative spot on different shapes, figures, or lines
dilation a transformation that changes the size of a figure by making it larger or smaller while keeping its shape and angles exactly the same
inputs the way you type or write a mathematical symbol or number into a function, equation, or rule
model A representation of an object or idea such as equations, graphs, charts, 3D shapes, or physical projects
outputs the final result you get after you put an input into a function, equation, or rule
point of intersection the exact location where two lines, curves, or axes cross each other on a graph
reflection a geometric transformation that flips a shape over a line to create a mirror image
rotation a transformation that turns a shape or a point around a fixed point
scale the set of numbers and equal intervals placed along the axes (x-axis and y-axis)
similar two shapes have the exact same shape, but they do not have to be the same size
stretch a transformation that changes the size of a graph or figure in one or both directions, making it wider, narrower, taller, or shorter
transformation a geometric move that changes a shape's position or direction
translation a transformation that slides a shape or point a fixed distance in a given direction without changing its size, shape, or orientation
