Unit 2:Historians

TermDefinition
Historian A student or writer of history
Primary Source Someone who was present during an event and provides a first-hand account of the event
Secondary Source Someone who wasn't present at an event and uses information provided by primary sources to describe what happened
Point of View The opinion or perspective that is given by the author of a document which is influenced by their own beliefs, thoughts, and viewpoints
Historical Context The circumstances of the time in which an event occurred or in which an author lived that might've influenced their point of view
Preamble An introduction to the reader that explains the purpose of the U.S Constitution
Constitution This document includes the Bill of Rights and defines the basic rights guaranteed to all U.S. citizens
Amendment This is an addition made to a document
Pledge A promise
Allegiance Loyalty or being loyal to something
