Agricultural Revolution the transition from prehistoric hunting and gathering to farming and settling in one place
Barter to trade goods and services without using money
Cardinal Directions the four primary directions: north, south, east, west
Compass Rose a map tool that indicates the direction of north and other cardinal or intermediate directions on a map
Cultural Diffusion the spread of people, ideas, technology, and products from one culture to another
Domesticate to tame in order to keep or grow, as with a wild animal or a wild plant
Equator the imaginary line drawn around Earth at zero degrees latitude that divides Earth into northern and southern hemispheres
Geography the study of Earth's surface and climate, and of human activity, and the interactions between them
Globe a three dimensional model of Earth
Hemisphere one of the halves of the Earth as divided by the equator or by the prime meridian
Interdependent people, societies, or other groups who rely on each other for survival or success
Intermediate Directions the four directions halfway between the cardinal directions; northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest
Map key a tool that explains what each shape or symbol used on a map means
Map Scale a tool that shows how distances on a map compare to actual distances on Earth
Map Title the heading that tells what information is shown on the map
Map a flat, two dimensional representation of the Earth or some area of land or sea
Prime Meridian the imaginary line drawn around Earth at zero degrees longitude
Specialize to become an expert in a particular subject, skill, or trade; to produce a limited variety of goods and services
Surplus having more that what is needed
Map Grid a series of horizontal and vertical lines that cross each other to divide a map into sections
