| The Chain of Survival shows | the actions that must be taken to give a person in cardiac arrest the best chance of survival. Each link in the Chain of Survival represents the important interventions applicable to adults, children, and infants, both in and out of the hospital. |
| In the in-hospital setting, there is | increased focus on prevention and early recognition of cardiac arrest with patient monitoring and assessment, and, if necessary, rapid response by the medical emergency team when a patient's condition starts to deteriorate. |
