Infant Formula Act Establishes special FDA controls to ensure necessary nutritional content and safety
Anti-Tampering Act A law that made it a crime to tamper with consumer products, food, drugs, or cosmetics
Nutrition Labeling and Education Act This act gave the FDA the power to require standardized nutrition facts on food labels. Mandated clear listing of calories, fats, sodium, carbohydrates, sugars and proteins.
Organic Foods Production Act A single, national standard for agricultural products sold/labeled as organic in the US
Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act Defines dietary supplements, places burden of proof for safety on FDA, authorizes some health claims for dietary supplements, and establishes the office of dietary supplements
Rule on Dietary Supplements Defines the type of statement that can be on labeling regarding the effect of supplements on the structure or function of the body
Food Allergy Labeling and Consumer Protection Act Law requiring packaged foods regulated by the USDA to clearly identify the presence of major food allergens using plain and common language
New Food Code Identifies time and temperature controls for serving cut greens, increases food handler training on allergen awareness. No longer allows the serving of undercooked meats as an option on children's menus.
Egg Safety Rules Prescribes measures for preventing salmonella that apply to all egg producers with at least 3000 laying hens whose shell eggs are not processed with a treatment, such as pasteurization, to ensure their safety
Food Safety Modernization Act Seven rules are implemented that ensure the safety of the food supply. This is a shared responsibility among different points in the global food chain for both human and animal food. (to prevent not just respond)
