Making sense of food

red meat meat that is dark brown in colour when it has been cooked, such as beef and lamb

chop to cut something into pieces with a knife, etc.
fry to cook something in hot fat or oil
roast to cook or be cooked in an oven or over a fire
slice to cut something into thin, flat pieces that are cut from a larger piece
steam to cook something in steam
stir to move a spoon or another thing round and round to mix something
addiction the condition of being unable to stop using or doing something as a habit, especially something harmful
calorie a unit for measuring the energy value of food
chemical a substance that is used or produced in a chemical process
desire a strong feeling of wanting to have or do something
epidemic a disease that many people in a place have at the same time
explosion the sudden breaking apart and loud noise of something such as a bomb exploding
