Codon 171 Gene that shows susceptibility to scrapie in sheep. QQ= highly susceptible. QR= rarely susceptible, RR= resistant
When and where was the first case of scrapie in the US? Michigan, 1947
When was RSSS established? 2003
What does the law require with scrapie for sheep and goats? They must be officially identified before being moved for sale, exhibition, slaughter, or change in ownership
What do ear tags have to have? Identification for the flock and the specific sheep
How is scrapie spread? Through contact with infected bodily fluid, most often through birth
