| Associative Property of Addition | Addends can be regrouped and the sum remains the same. |
| Associative Property of Multiplication | Factors can be regrouped and the product remains the same. |
| Commutative Property of Addition | Numbers can be added in any order and the sum will remain the same. |
| Commutative Property of Multiplication | Numbers can be multiplied in any order and the product remains the same. |
| Distributive Property of Multiplication | A multiplication fact can be broken apart into the sum of two other multiplication facts. |
| dividend | A quantity that is to be divided. |
| divisor | A number by which another number is divided. |
| equation | A number sentence that uses an equal sign (=) to show that the value on its left side is the same as the value on its right side. |
| expression | A mathematical phrase that does not contain an equal sign (=) or an inequality symbol (≠). |
| factors | The numbers multiplied together to find a product. |
| Identity Property of Addition | The sum of any number and zero is the number. |
| whole numbers | The natural numbers and 0. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, … |
