Understanding of chemistry
| Term | Definition |

| digestion | requires the action of proteins called enzymes |
| carbohydrates, lipids, and oxygen | needed for energy prodcution |
| bones | are comprised of calcium, phosphorus, and proteins |
| water | main component in all body fluids, which also includes varying concentrations of sodium, potassium and calcium |
| chemicals | chemicals make up our cells, tissue, organs, and organ systems. All nutrients, respiratory gas and water that we require to maintain life are all chemicals. Chemical process that happen within our bodies keep us alive, functioning properly in homeostasis |
| water importance | makes up majority of our bodily fluids, it is also a transport medium for other chemicals in the body via circulation and helps with temperature regulation |
