| Marginalization | Acculturation strategy. Individual’s reject BOTH their culture of origin and the dominant host culture. (Remember: AIMS) |
| Integration | Acculturation strategy. Individuals can balance both norms of the dominant host culture and culture of origin (Remember: AIMS) |
| Assimilation | Acculturation strategy. Individuals adopt the cultural norms of the dominant host culture over their culture of origin (Remember: AIMS) |
| Separation | Acculturation strategy. Rejecting the dominant culture in favor of preserving culture of origin. (Remember: AIMS) |
| Data Triangulation | Using multiple data sources, methods, or perspectives to check facts, reduce bias, and build a trustworthy picture of a client’s situation or a social research study |

| Cooptation | Strategy for reducing resistance by including opponents in decision making, aims to change viewpoints of those who are oppositional |
| DAP Notes | Data, assessment, plan. Format for psychotherapy and progress notes |
| Double Bind | Contradictory messages or requests in which affirmatively responding to one negates the other; situation in which any choice results in unpleasant outcome. Ex: telling a child to speak up then reprimanding them for being outspoken |
| Ego Dystonic | Thoughts/impulses/wishes that do not align with one’s self of self. Aka ego alien |
| Ego Syntonic | Thoughts/impulses/wishes in sync (or in alliance with) one’s sense of self |
| Encropesis | Involuntary passage of feces. Can be due to emotional or psychological problems. Often treated with behavioral intervention |
| Endogenous Depression | Not linked to external stressors. Assumed to be caused by a biological or genetic factor |
| Enuresis | Involuntarily urination. Can be caused by medical problem or psychological distress. |
| Exogenous Depression | Caused by distressing event or situation. Aka reactive depression |

| Manifest Content | Material that is overtly expressed or evident. The dreams, thoughts, or fantasies remembered in psychoanalysis |
| Negative Entropy | System becoming less disordered. Growing or developing |
| Secondary Prevention | Screening to identify diseases in the earliest stages before the onset of signs and symptoms ex: mammography, regular blood pressure testing |
| Tertiary Prevention | Intervention for those already affected. Goals focused on improving quality of life by reducing limitations or delaying complications |
