| Term | Definition |

| Export | goods and services produced in one country and shipped to another country for sale or trade |
| Peninsula | a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water. |
| Sustainable | the use of natural resources when this use is kept at a steady level that is not likely to damage the environment |
| Biodiversity | all the different kinds of life you'll find in one area |
| Ecosystem | a community of organisms and their physical environment interacting together |
| Rainforest | a luxuriant, dense forest rich in biodiversity, found typically in tropical areas with consistently heavy rainfall. |
| Grassland | an area (or ecosystem) where the vegetation is dominated by grasses. |
| Tundra | treeless regions found in the Arctic and on the tops of mountains, where the climate is cold and windy, and rainfall is scant |
| Desert | a region of land that is very dry because it receives low amounts of precipitation |
| Multiculturalism | an approach that emphasizes and celebrates the cultural diversity present in a multiracial and multiethnic society. |
| Migration | the movement of either people or animals from one area to another |
| Temperate Forest | average temperatures but extremely high levels of precipitation |
| NAFTA | established a free-trade zone in North America |
| Globalization | The increasing interconnectedness and interdependence of the many peoples of the world who all live and work on one large planet |
| Cultural diffusion | the spread of one culture's practices, beliefs, and/or items |
