| constant | Stays the same without changing, or something that happens over and over again. |
| Control group | a standard baseline in an experiment or study that does not receive the treatment, intervention, or experimental variable being tested. |
| dependent variable | the outcome or effect that is measured in an experiment and changes in response to the independent variable. |
| Independent variable | a factor that a researcher changes, controls, or manipulates in an experiment to test its effects on another factor. |
| experimental group | the set of participants or items in a study that receives the specific treatment or intervention being tested. |
| inference | a conclusion or educated guess that you make by combining new evidence with your own background knowledge |
| observation | the act of carefully watching, noticing, or recording facts, events, and measurements to gather information |
| peer view | the evaluation of professional, academic, or scientific work by experts in the same field to maintain quality standards and ensure accuracy. |
| bias | a disproportionate weight, preference, or inclination for or against an idea, thing, or group, usually in a way that is closed-minded, unfair, or leading to an error in judgment. |
