TermDefinition
Dependent variable The variable that is observed and that changes in response to the independent variable.
Independent variable The variable that is changed on purpose.
Inference A logical interpretation based on what scientists already know.
Controlled group Is exposed to the same conditions as the experimental group except for changes in the independent variable.
Observation Observing something or an experiment noticing things.
Peer review Scientists share findings with other scientists by publishing their hypothesis, experimental methods, results, and analysis in scientific journals.
Bias A personal, rather than scientific, point of view for, or against, something.
Experimental group All other variables should be kept unchanged, or controlled.
