| Term | Definition |

| Constant | something that stays the same without changing, or happens all the time without stopping. |
| Variable | any factor, trait, or condition in a living system or experiment that can change, be controlled, or be measured. |
| Dependent Variable | the factor that you measure or test in an experiment. It changes in response to the independent variable. Its value depends on the other factors in the study. |
| Experimental Group | the set of test subjects, cells, or organisms that receives the specific treatment or condition being tested in an experiment. |
| Independent Variable | the specific factor that a researcher deliberately changes or manipulates in an experiment to test its effects. |
| Inference | a logical conclusion or interpretation derived from evidence, data, and prior knowledge rather than direct observation. |
| Observation | the active acquisition of information about the natural world using the human senses or scientific instruments. |
| Peer Review | the process where independent experts in the same field evaluate a researcher's study before it is published in an academic journal. |
| Bias | a systematic error that skews study results and leads to false conclusions |
| Controlled group | a standard baseline in a scientific experiment that does not receive the treatment or intervention being tested. |
