| Dependent Variable | A dependent variable is a variable that is observed and also changes in response to the independent variable. |
| Independent Variable | An independent variable is a variable that is deliberately changed. |
| Inference | An inference is a logical interpretation based on what scientists already know. |
| Bias | A bias is a personal, rather than scientific, point of view that is for or against something. |
| Observation | An observation is when you notice and describe events or processes in a careful and orderly way. |
| Controlled Group | A controlled group is exposed to the same conditions as the experimental group except for some changes in the independent variable. |
| Experimental Group | An experimental group is the same as a controlled group except that an experimental group stays unchanged and never will get changed. |
| Peer Review | Peer review is an evaluation of somebody's work, research, or ideas by others working in that same field. |
| Constant | A constant is a value or factor that does not and will not change. |
| Variable | A variable is any factor, trait, or condition that can change, be measured, or be controlled in an experiment. |
