constant a value or condition that does not change
variable any factor, trait, or condition that can change or exist in different amounts or types during an experiment
dependent variable the variable that is observed and that changes in response to the independent variable
experimental group the set of test subjects that receives the specific treatment or intervention being tested in a scientific study
independent variable the variable deliberately changed
inference is a logical interpretation based on what scientist already know
observation the act of noticing and describing events or processes in a careful, orderly way.
peer review scientist share findings with other scientist by publishing their hypothesis, results and analysis in scientific journals
bias is a personal, rather than scientific data
controlled group exposed to the same conditions as the experimental group except for changes in the independent variable.
