TermDefinition
Observation The act of noticing and describing events or processes in a careful, orderly way
Inference A logical interpretation based on what scientists already know.
Independent variable Variable being manipulated
Dependent variable Variable being measured
Peer Review Scientists share findings with other scientists before publishing them.
Bias A personal rather than scientific point of view
Constant Any factor or value that stays exactly the same and does not change.
Experimental group The group in a scientific experiment that is exposed to the independent variable or treatment being tested.
Variable Variable that can change an experiment
Controlled group The group in a scientific experiment that receives no special treatment, to compare it to the experimental group
