Unit 1 Topic 2 Vocab

TermDefinition
Constant Variable that stays the same.
Variable This can be changed or controlled in an experiment.
Dependent Variable The variable that is observed and that changes in response to the independent variable
Experimental Group This is where experiments are divided into control.
Independent Variable The variable deliberately changed.
Inference A logical interpretation based on what scientists already know.
Observation The act of noticing and describing events or processes in a careful, orderly way.
Peer Review Scientists share findings with other scientists by publishing their hypotheses, experimental methods, results, and analysis in scientific journals.
Bias A bias is a personal, rather than scientific point, of view for, or, against, something.
Controlled Group This is exposed to the same conditions as the experimental group except for changes in the independent variable.
