TermDefinition
Constant Any factor that a researcher deliberately keeps the same throughout an experiment to ensure valid results
Variable Any factor, trait, or condition in a living system or experiment that can change, be controlled, or be measured.
Dependent variable The variable that changes in response of the independent variable
Experimental group The set of test subjects, cells, or organisms that receives the specific treatment or condition being tested in an experiment
Independent variable The variable that is deliberately changed
inference A logical Interpretation based on what scientists already know.
Observation the act of noticing and describing events or processes in a careful, orderly way
Peer Review The process where other expert scientists check a research paper
Bias A personal, rather that scientific, point of view, or against something
Controlled Group Exposed to the same conditions as the experimental group except for changes in the independent variable
