TermDefinition
Constant Something in an experiment that stays the same.
Variable The controlled, changed, or observed thing you are trying to find.
Dependent variable The variable that is observed and that changes in response to the independent variable.
Experimental group Has the same conditions as the control group except it has changes in the independent variable.
Independent variable The variable that is deliberately changed.
Inference A logical interpretation based on what scientists already know.
Observation The act of noticing and describing events processes in a careful, orderly way.
Peer Review Scientists share findings with other scientists by publishing their hypotheses, experimental methods, results, and analysis in scientific journals.
Bias A personal, rather than scientific, point of view for, or against, something.
