Unit 1 Topic 2 Vocab

TermDefinition
Constant A value, quantity, or factor that does not change in an experiment and doesn't include the changes made to the independent variable.
Variable Things in an experiment that are changed and/or react to other variables in said experiment.
Dependent Variable The variable that is observed and changes in response to the independent variable.
Experimental Group The part of an experiment that includes the change in the independent variable.
Independent Variable The variable deliberately changed in an experiment.
Inference A logical interpretation based on what scientists already know.
Observation The act of noticing and describing events or processes in a careful, orderly way.
Peer Review When scientists show their findings with other scientists who check for mistakes, oversights, unfair influences, and fraud, in techniques and analysis.
Bias A personal, rather than scientific, point of view for, or against, certain kinds of people or activities.
