| .Numeric expression | a mathematical phrase that contains numbers and operations |
| Equation | a mathematical sentence that uses an equals sign to show that two or more quantities are the same as one another |
| Distributive property | states that for any numbers a,b and c the equation a(b+c)=ab+ac is true |
| Common factor | a number that is a factor of two or more numbers |
| Prime factorization | expressing any whole number as a product of primes, only primes, and nothing else |
| Base | the factor that is multiplied by itself repeatedly in the power |
| Power | represents repeated multiplication and has two elements: the base and the exponent |
| Exponent | the number of times the base is used as a factor |
| Greatest common factor (GCF) | the largest factor two or more numbers have in common |
| Relatively prime | two numbers that do not have any common factors other than 1 |
| Multiple | the product of a given whole number and another whole number |
| Commutative Property of multiplication | States that for any numbers a and b, the product of a*b is equal to the product b*a |
| Least common multiple (LCM) | the smallest multiple (other than zero) that two or more numbers have in common |
