| ray | a part of a line that starts at an endpoint and extends forever in one direction |
| Ray (notation) | uses 2 capital letters with 1 arrow on top |
| line | a straight one-dimensional figure that extends endlessly in both directions |
| line segment | a part of a line that has two endpoints |
| parallel lines | lines in the same plane that do not intersect |
| perpendicular lines | two lines that intersect to form right angles |
| perpendicular | intersecting at or forming right angles |
| intersecting lines | lines that cross at one point |
| line (notation) | 2 capital letters with two arrows on top |
| Line Segment (notation) | 2 capital letters with a bar on top |
| parallel lines (notation) | parallel symbol |
| Perpendicular (notation) | perpendicular symbol |
| angle | a figure formed by two rays with a common endpoint |
| vertex | the common endpoint of an angle |
| degrees | a unit for measuring angles |
| acute angle | an angle measuring less than 90 degrees |
| right angle | an angle that measures 90 degrees |
| obtuse angle | an angle measuring more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees |

| obtuse triangle | a triangle with one obtuse angle and two acute angles |
| acute triangle | a triangle containing only acute angles |
| right triangle | a triangle with a 90 degree angle |
| equilateral triangle | a triangle with 3 congruent sides |
| congruent | same size and shape |
| scalene triangle | a triangle with no congruent sides |
| isosceles triangle | a triangle with at least two congruent sides |
| polygon | a closed figure formed by three or more line segments |
| circle | a round plane figure whose boundary points are equidistant from the center |
| adjacent | near, next to, adjoining |
| vertices | points of intersection of sides or edges |
| quadrilateral | a four-sided polygon |
| parallelogram | a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides |
| square | a parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles |
| rectangle | a quadrilateral with four right angles and opposite sides parallel and equal |
| rhombus | a parallelogram with four equal sides |
| trapezoid | a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides |
| kite | a quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent congruent sides |
| similar | figures with the same shape but not necessarily the same size |
| degrees in a triangle | sum of interior angles is 180 degrees |
| degrees in a quadrilateral | sum of interior angles is 360 degrees |
| reflex angle | an angle greater than 180 degrees |
| scale drawing | a drawing using a scale to represent an object larger or smaller |
| base | parallel congruent faces of a prism or the polygon base of a pyramid |
| surface area | total area covering all faces of a 3D figure |
