| Associative Property of Multiplication | Factors can be regrouped and the product remains the same. (2 x 3) x 5 = 2 x (3 x 5) |
| Commutative Property of Multiplication | Numbers can be multliplied in any order and the product remains the same. 2 x 5 = 10 and 5 x 2 = 10 |
| Distributive Property of Multiplication | A multiplication fact can be broken apart into the sum of two other multiplication facts. 7 x 4 = (5 x 4) + (2 x 4) |
| Dividend | A quantity that is to be divided. |
| Divisor | A number by which another number is divided. |
| Equation | A number sentence that uses an equal sign (=) to show that the value on it's left side is the same as the value on it's right side. 5 x 3 = 15 |
| Expression | A mathematical phrase that does not contain an equal sign (=) 8 x 9 |
| Factors | The numbers multiplied together to find a product. 3 x 2 are factors of 6. |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | The product of any number and one is the number. For example, 7 x 1= 7 |
| Multiple | The products of a specific number. For example, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 are multiples of 4. |
| Square Number | A square number is a number of the form n x n where n is any integer. For example, 2 x 2 = 4 or 4 x 4 = 16 |
| Zero Property of Multiplication | The product of any number and zero is zero. 3 x 0 = 0 |
