PREPOSITION

QuestionAnswer
IN Meaning: inside / within a period / within an area. ID: di, dalam, pada. Example: She lives in Jakarta. / The population increased in 2020.
ON Meaning: on a surface / specific day or date / concerning. ID: di atas, pada, tentang. Example: The book is on the table. / The exam is on Monday.
AT Meaning: at a specific point, place, or time. ID: di, pada. Example: The class starts at 8 a.m. / She is at school.
BY Meaning: before a deadline / using a method / near. ID: sebelum, dengan, dekat. Example: Submit the essay by Friday. / I travelled by train.
FOR Meaning: duration / purpose / intended recipient. ID: selama, untuk. Example: She studied for three hours. / This policy is designed for young people.
SINCE Meaning: from a specific time until now. ID: sejak. Example: The population has increased since 2010.
DURING Meaning: throughout a period or event. ID: selama, selama berlangsungnya. Example: Many people lost their jobs during the pandemic.
FROM Meaning: starting point / source / origin. ID: dari, sejak. Example: The train runs from Jakarta to Bandung.
TO Meaning: direction / destination / relationship. ID: ke, kepada, terhadap. Example: She travelled to London. / Access to education is important.
INTO Meaning: movement from outside to inside. ID: ke dalam. Example: The water flows into the river.
OUT OF Meaning: movement from inside to outside / no longer having something. ID: keluar dari / kehabisan. Example: He walked out of the building.
THROUGH Meaning: from one side to another / by means of a process. ID: melalui, lewat. Example: The river flows through the city. / People can learn through experience.
ACROSS Meaning: from one side to the other. ID: melintasi, di seberang. Example: The bridge stretches across the river.
ALONG Meaning: following the length or direction of something. ID: sepanjang. Example: Several shops are located along the main road.
BESIDE Meaning: next to. ID: di sebelah. Example: The school is beside the library.
BESIDES Meaning: in addition to. ID: selain. Example: Besides English, she speaks Mandarin.
BETWEEN Meaning: in the space separating two things/people. ID: di antara dua. Example: There is a clear difference between the two groups.
AMONG Meaning: surrounded by or included in a group. ID: di antara banyak. Example: The issue is widely discussed among young people.
ABOVE Meaning: higher than. ID: di atas. Example: The temperature remained above 30°C.
BELOW Meaning: lower than. ID: di bawah. Example: The figure fell below 20%.
UNDER Meaning: directly lower than / less than. ID: di bawah. Example: The number fell under 10,000.
OVER Meaning: above / more than / throughout. ID: di atas, lebih dari, selama. Example: The population increased over the following decade.
AGAINST Meaning: opposing / touching or pressing against. ID: melawan, terhadap. Example: Many people voted against the proposal.
WITH Meaning: together with / using / having. ID: dengan. Example: She travelled with her family. / The room is equipped with modern technology.
WITHOUT Meaning: not having or using something. ID: tanpa. Example: People cannot live without clean water.
ABOUT Meaning: concerning a subject / approximately. ID: tentang, sekitar. Example: The essay is about climate change.
REGARDING Meaning: concerning. ID: mengenai. Example: There are concerns regarding the new policy.
TOWARDS Meaning: in the direction of / in relation to. ID: menuju, terhadap. Example: Society's attitude towards technology is changing.
AGAINST Meaning: in opposition to. ID: menentang. Example: Many residents protested against the proposal.
WITHIN Meaning: inside a period or limit. ID: dalam batas waktu/ruang. Example: The project must be completed within six months.
