| first-person narrative | a story told by one of the characters who uses the words "I", "me", "my", or "we" to share their own adventures and feelings. |
| inference | a smart guess you make by putting together clues you see or read and what you already know in your head |
| dialogue | a conversation between two or more people, or between characters in a book, movie, or play. It is what characters say out loud to each other |
| quotation marks | punctuation symbols that act like open and closed speech bubbles in a story to show the exact words someone says |
| summarize | to take a long story, book, or movie and retell just the most important parts in your own words |
