Matter Anything that has mas and takes up space
Mass A measure of the amount of matter in an object
Volume A measure of how much space an object takes up
Solubility The maximum amount of a substance that can be dissolved dy another substance up
Reflectivity The way light bounces off an object
Conductivity Ability for energy such as electricityand heat,to move through a material
Magnetism The ability of a material to be attracted to a magnet without needing to be a magnet
Physical property The change of matter in size, shape, or state that does not change the type of matter.
Chemical A characteristic that can only be observed when the type of matter changes.
Combustibility The ability to burn
Corrosion The flow of heat through a liquid or a gas, caused by hot parts rising and cooler parts sinking.
nucleus the center of an atom that has most of it's mass
proton a particle in the nucleus of an atom that carries one unit of positive electric charge
neutron a partcle in a nucles of an atom that has no electric charge
electron a particle in space outside the nucleus of an atom that carries one unit of negative electric charge
molecule A particle that contains more than one atom joined together
mixture a physical comdination of 2 or more substances that are blended together without forming new substances
colloid a type of mixture in which the particles of one material are scattered throughr another and block to passage of light without settling out
solution a mixture oof substances that are blended so completely that the mixture looks the same everywhere
alloy a solution of metal and at least one other solid which is often also a metal
distillation the process of separating the parts of a miture by evaporation and condensation
