| conductivity | ability for energy such as electricity and heat to move through a material |
| reflectivity | the way light bounces off an object |
| solubility | the maximum amount of a substance that can be dissolved by another subject |
| chemical property | a characteristic of matter that can only be observed and or measured |
| combustibility | ability to burn |
| corrosion | the gradual wearing away of a metal as it combines with nonmetals in its environment |
| nucleus | the center of an atom that has most of its mass |
| proton | particle in the nucleus of an atom that carries one unit of electric charge |
| neutron | particle in the nucleus of an atom that has no electric charge |
| electron | a particle in the space outside the nucleus that carries one unit of negative charge |
| molecule | a particle that contans more then one atom joined together |
| mixture | a physical combination of 2 or more substances that are blended together without forming new substances |
| colloid | type of mixture where part of one material is scattered throughout another, block, light don't settle out |
| solution | mixture of substances that are mixed so completely it looks the same everywhere |
| alloy | solution of a metal & one other solid that is also a metal |
