Directional Terms , Body Plaes , Planes throught an organ

QuestionAnswer
Ventral (Anterior) forward
Dorsal ( Pelvic) toward the back
Cephalie ( Superior) toward the head, higher on the body
Caudal (Inferior) lower down closer to the tailbone
Proximal closer to the body ,trunk or where the limbs attach
Distal farther away from the body
Sagittal Plane dives bod into left and right portions
Coronal (Frontal) divides the body into anterior and posterior section
Horizontal (Transverse) divides body into superior and inferior sections
Oblique other than a right angle
3 Planes through an organ Longital , transverse and oblique
Longital cut along the length of an organ
Transverse (Cross) cut at right angle to the length of the organ
Oblique cut at anything but a right angle
Body Contains Dorsal and Ventral Cavities
Dorsal Body Cavity contains: cranial cavity , vertebral canal
Cranial houses the brain
Vertebral canal houses the spinal cord
Ventral body cavity contains : thoracic cavity and mediastinum
Thoracic cavity divided into pleural cavities each enclosing a lung
Mediastinum contains the heart , major blood vessels, thymus ,trachea and esophagus
Abdominal contains many digestive organs and spleen
Pelvic Contains urinary bladder , urethra , rectum, and other reproductive organs
