chemical property a charateristic that can only be observed when the type of matter changes
conbustibility the ability to burn
corrosion the gradual wearing away of the metal as it combines with nonmeatal in its invironment
nucleus the center of an atom that has most of it's mass
proton a partical in the nucleus of an atom that carries one unit of positive electric charge
molecule a partical that contains more than one atom joined together
mixture a physiacal combination of two or more substances that are blended together without forming new substances
distillation the process of seperating parts of mixture by evaporating and condenstation
colloid a type of mixture in wich the particals of one material are scattered through another and block the passage of light without settling out
soulution a mixture of substances thet are blended so completly that the mixture looks the same every where
alloy a soulution of a metal and at least one other solid wich is often also a metal
electron a partical in the space outside the nucleus of an atom that carries one unit of negitive electric charge
neutron a partical in the nucleus of an atom that has no electric charge
