| Commutative Property | Order changes but the total stays the same. (Example: a + b = b + a) |
| Associative Property | Grouping changes using parentheses but the order stays the same. (Example: (a+b)+c = a+(b+c)) |
| Identity Property | Adding 0 or multiplying by 1 keeps the number exactly the same. (Example: x + 0 = x) |
| Inverse Property | Using opposites or flipped fractions to cancel a number down to 0 or 1. (Example: 5 + -5 = 0) |
| Property of Zero | Multiplying any algebraic term by 0 results in exactly 0. (Example: 7x * 0 = 0) |
| Distributive Property | ,Multiplying an outside factor across everything inside the parentheses. (Example: 3(x + 4) = 3x + 12) |
| Minus Sign Rule | ,Always glue a minus sign to the term directly to its right. Treat it as a negative. |
| Double Negative Rule | A negative number multiplied by a negative number ALWAYS flips to a positive. |
| Negative x Positive | A negative number multiplied by a positive number ALWAYS results in a negative. |
