Structure of water and hydrogen bonding
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Covalent Bond | Bond type in which atoms share electrons |
| Hydrogen Bond | A weak Bond interaction between negative and positive regions of two seperate molecules |
| Cohesion | When two of the same molecules form hydrogen bonds with each other |
| Adhesion | When two different molecules form hydrogen bonds with each other |
| Surface tension | Interactions between hydrogen bonds only at the surface |
| Waters adhesive property | High solvency ability in its liquid state |
| Waters cohesive property | High heat capacity, allows it to absorb a lot of thermal heat before changing chemical states |
| Capillary Action | A result of both cohesion and adhesion |
