Understand Multliiplication and Division of Whole Numbers

| commutative property of multiplication | Numbers can be multiplied in any order and the product remains the same. |
| equal groups | Groups that have the same number of items. |
| multiplication | An operation that gives the total number when you join equal groups. |
| factors | The numbers multiplied together to find a product. |
| product | The answer to a multiplication problem. |
| equation | A number sentence that uses an equal sign (=) to show that the value on its left side is the same as the value on its right side. |
| unknown | A symbol or letter that stands for a number in an equation. |
| number line | A straight line with evenly spaced marks labeled with successive numbers. Values are plotted as points on the number line. |
| array | A display of objects arranged in equal rows and columns. |
| row | An arrangement of objects or numbers, one to the side of another. |
| column | An arrangement of objects, shapes, or numbers, one above another. |
| division | An operation that tells how many equal groups there are or how many are in each group. |
| dividend | A quantity that is to be divided. |
| divisor | A number by which another number is divided. |
| quotient | The answer to a division problem. |
