Geometry

Polygon a flat, closed two-dimensional shape made entirely of straight line segments connected end-to-end
Vertex a point where two or more straight lines, line segments, edges, or rays meet
Quadrilateral a four-sided figure.
Regular Polygon a flat, closed shape made with straight lines. It must have sides that are all the same length. It must also have inside angles that are all the exact same size.
Equilateral Triangle a shape with three sides of the same length and three equal angles that each measure 60 degrees
Isosceles Triangle a shape with two sides of the same length and two angles of the same size.
Scalene Triangle a shape with three sides. All three sides have different lengths. All three angles have different sizes. No sides or angles are the same
Acute Triangle All 3 angles are acute within the triangle
Right Triangle There is 1 right angle and 2 acute angles within the triangle
Obtuse Triangle There is 1 obtuse angle and 2 acute angles within the triangle
Acute Angle An angle that measures less than 90 degrees
Right Angle An angle that measures exactly 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle An angle that measures more than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees
Straight Angle An angle that measures exactly 180 degrees
Trapezoid a flat, four-sided shape (a quadrilateral) that has one pair of parallel sides.
Parallelogram a flat shape with four straight sides. It is a special type of four-sided shape (a quadrilateral) where the opposite sides are parallel and equal in length
Rhombus is a four-sided, two-dimensional shape (a quadrilateral) where all four sides are the same length. It looks like a tilted square or a diamond shape. It still has equal sides, but the angles aren’t all right angles.
Rectangle is a flat, two-dimensional (2D) shape with: Four sides Four right angles (each angle measures 90°) Opposite sides that are equal in length and paralle
Square is a flat shape (polygon) that has four equal sides and four equal angles. Each angle in a square is a right angle (90°).
