Basic Geometry Terms
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Point | Where 2 lines intersect |
| Line | Where 2 planes intersect |
| Plane | Two dimensional and extends infinitely through any 3 points not on the same line |
| Collinear | Points that lie on the same line |
| Noncollinear | Points that do not lie on the same line |
| Coplanar | Points that lie in the same plane |
| Endpoint | A point that marks the end of a ray or line segment |
| Line Segment | All the points on a line in between the endpoints |
| Ray | A set of points that begins with an endpoint and extends infinitely in one direction |
| Opposite Rays | 2 Rays that shard an endpoint and form a line |
| Vertex | The point where 2 line segments or rays intesect |
| Angle | The space between 2 intersecting rays or line segments |
| Degrees | Unit of measurement for angles |
| Acute Angle | Measures less than 90 degrees |
| Obtuse Angle | Measures greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees |
| Straight Angle | Measures exactly 180 degrees |
| Right Angle | Measures exactly 90 degrees |
| Bisector | Line or line segment that cuts something in 2 equal parts |
