Basic Geometry Terms

TermDefinition
Point Where 2 lines intersect
Line Where 2 planes intersect
Plane Two dimensional and extends infinitely through any 3 points not on the same line
Collinear Points that lie on the same line
Noncollinear Points that do not lie on the same line
Coplanar Points that lie in the same plane
Endpoint A point that marks the end of a ray or line segment
Line Segment All the points on a line in between the endpoints
Ray A set of points that begins with an endpoint and extends infinitely in one direction
Opposite Rays 2 Rays that shard an endpoint and form a line
Vertex The point where 2 line segments or rays intesect
Angle The space between 2 intersecting rays or line segments
Degrees Unit of measurement for angles
Acute Angle Measures less than 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle Measures greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees
Straight Angle Measures exactly 180 degrees
Right Angle Measures exactly 90 degrees
Bisector Line or line segment that cuts something in 2 equal parts
