Nature of Science

TermDefinition
qualitative observation Describes qualities or characteristics without using numbers
quantitative observation Involves counting or measuring numbers
inference A conclusion you make based on observations and evidence
independent variable The factor that is changed on purpose to test a hypothesis
dependent variable The factor that is measured to see the effect of the experiment
control variable The factor that is kept the same to ensure a fair test
testable hypothesis A prediction that can be answered by collecting and analyzing data
