Scientific Method a way of solving problems using a systematic approach
Scientific Method Purpose, research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, conclusion
Observation/ problem something that you notice or wonder (qualitative, quantitative, hypothesis).
Hypothesis a possible explanation for an observation based on research (not random guess)
Experiment Something that we do to test our hypothesis
Data New info: written observations
Conclusions based on data to support or negate hypothesis
Theory model explanation for an observation. based on tested hypothesis and often change
DRYMIX Dependent var., responding variable, y axis, manipulated variable, independent var., x axis
Control group does not get independent variable
experimental group does get independent variable
Independent variable the thing being tested
Dependent variable the thing being measured
SI units based on metric system
Length meters (m)/centimeters(cm)
Mass kilograms (kg)/grams(g)
Volume liters(L)/milliliters (mL)
Time seconds (s)
Temperature celsius (C) / Kelvin (K)
Kilo means 1000 of that unit. (-1 kilometer (km) = 1000 meters)
Centi means 1/100 of that unit. (1 dollar = 100 cents)
Milli means 1/1000 of that unit. (1 liter (L) = 1000 milliliters (mL)
