TermDefinition
Acromegaly Abnormal enlargement of the extremities.
Adrenarche Beginning of adrenal secretion (at puberty).
Adrenocorticohyperplasia Overdevelopment of the cortex of the adrenal gland.
Cholangiopancreatograp Procedure used to examine the bile ducts and pancreas.
Euglycemia Good blood sugar.
Anisocytosis Condition characterized by a great inequality in the size of red blood cells.
Apheresis A process where blood is drawn from a person, run through a machine that separates it into parts from red cells, plasma, or platelets, and the remaining components are returned to the body.
Asplenia Absence of a spleen or of spleen function.
Ecchymosis A large bruise.
Embolism Blockage in a blood vessel caused by an embolus (mass or matter in the blood).
Ischemia Blockage of blood flow to an organ.
Epicardium Tissue lining the outside of the heart.
Occlusion Closing or blockage of a passage.
Pericardial effusion Fluid pouring out into the tissue around the heart.
Thrombolytic Drug that breaks down clots.
