What is one way war affect service members? -despite all the other activities service members may undertake, they are ultimately obligated to engage in battle if their superiors call on them to do so. If they don't they go to jail, even if that means they could be killed or injured while serving.
Who has the highest rates of suicide? The highest suicide rates are among service members who have been engaged in war.
What are the four main health and interrelated behavioral health problems social workers see in the military? Traumatic brain injury (TBI), PTSD, substance use, and suicide
Suicide data in the military point to three primary risk factors, what are they? Relationship, legal, and financial troubles.
How are some ways the military takes care of it's own? DoD funds (only go to current serving members/families) VA Funds (only go to separate service members/families) VA Hospitals and TRICARE military insurance benefits that respond to deployment needs.
What are some benefits from VA hospitals and TRICARE military insurance? -Health care -Housing -Life Insurance -Job Training and Help -Retirement
What is secondary trauma? An emotional distress that develops when you are exposed indirectly to another persons traumatic experience.
