TermDefinition
address the numbers and street name that describes where a person lives.
axis the imaginary line that runs from the North to South pole
cardinal directions the four main directions- North South East West
compass rose the diagram on the map that shows the points of direction
continents the seven main areas of land on earth.
globe a model of the earth
grid map a map that uses letters and numbers in boxes to describe the location of objects
key/legend the list of symbols on the map and what they stand for
map shows objects from above in smaller size and in relation to other objects
north pole the northernmost part of the world
oceans the four main bodies of water on earth
scale shows how big the object on the map is compared to the real object
south pole the southernmost part of the earth
symbol something that represents an object or idea
