cardinal directions the 4 main directions -north east south west
compass rose the diregram on the map that shows the points of directions
continents the seven main areas of land on earth
grid map a map that uses letters and numbers in boxes to describe the location of objects
key/legend the list of symbols on the map and what they stand for
map shows objects from above, in smaller size
north pole the northernmost part of earth
oceans the 4 main bodies of water on earth
scale shows how big the object on the map is compared to the real object
south pole the southern part of earth
symbol something that represents object or idea
