1.1-1.2 Projections

Conformal Projection Preserve shapes of land features at the expense of distorting their true size
Equal-Area Projection Distort the oceans to preserve size of the landmasses but distorts shape
Mercator Projection Latitude and longitude shown at right angles, preserves shape but distorts size massively at higher latitudes
Gall-Peters Projection Preserves size but distorts shape, image appears opposite of Mercator
Robinson Projection Preserves size and shape of continents but distorts polar areas, compromise
Goodes Projection Interrupted Projection removes much of the oceans to preserve size and shape of the land masses
All conformal projections Mercator Projection: Preserves shape and angles, but distorts size at high latitudes.
All equal-area projections Gall-Peters Projection: Preserves true land size, but stretches and distorts shape. Goode's Interrupted Projection: Removes parts of the ocean to keep land sizes and shapes accurate.
