vocabulary

TermDefinition
address. the numbers and street name that describes where a person lives.
axis. the imaginary line that runs through the center of earth from the north pole to the south pole.
cardinal directions. the four main directions-north, south, east, and west.
compass rose. the diagram on the map that shows the points of direction.
continents. the seven main areas of land on earth.
globe. A model of the earth.
grid map. A map that uses letters and numbers in boxes to describe the location of objects.
key. the list of symbols on the map and what they stand for.
legend. the list of symbols on the map and what they stand for.
map. shows objects from above, in smaller size, and in relation to other objects.
north pole. the northernmost part of earth.
oceans. the four main bodies of water on earth.
scale. shows how big the object on the map is compared to the real object.
south pole.. the southernmost part of earth.
symbols. somethings that represent an object or idea.
