Anosmia Inability to smell

Orthopnea Difficulty breathing when lying flat
Apnea Absence of breathing
Wheezing High-pitched sound caused by narrowed airways
Crackles (rales) Bubbling sounds in lungs; may indicate fluid
Rhonchi Snoring-like sounds caused by mucus in airways
Stridor Harsh, high-pitched sound on inspiration; using a scope
Bronchoscopy Procedure to examine airways using a scope
Thoracentesis Removal of fluid from pleural space with a needle
Chest X-Ray Common imaging used to access pneumonia, fractures, or tumors
Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) Assess lung volume and flow
