What are the four major tissue types in the body? Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nervous
What is the function of epithelial tissue? Protection, secretion, absorption, excretion
Where is epithelial tissue located? Cover body surface, cover and line internal organs, compose glands
What are the distinguishing characteristics of epithelial tissue? Lack blood vessels, cells readily divide, cells are tightly packed
What is the function of connective tissue? Bind, support, protect, fill spaces, store fat, produce blood cells
Where is connective tissue located? Widely distributed throughout the body
What are the distinguishing characteristics of connective tissue? Mostly have good blood supply, cells are farther apart than epithelial cells, with extracellular matrix in between
