additive reasoing focuses on the use of addition and subtraction for comparisons
multiplicative reasoning focuses on the use of multiplication and division
ratio is a multiplicative comparison between two quantities that may contain the same or different units
equivalent ratios are ratios that represent the same part-to-part or part-to-whole relationship
strip diagram illustrates number relationships
rate is a comparison by division between two quantities that have different units
proportion is an equation that states that two ratios are equal
scaling up means you multiply both parts of the ratio/rate by the same factor greater than 1
scale factor is the factor that you multiply both parts of the ratio by
scaling down means you divide both parts of the ratio/rate by the same scale factor less than 1
linear relationship is when a set of points graphed on a coordinate plane forms a straight line
