| Explain the concept of Central Ray Angulation (e.g., “What does angling the CR 25 degrees cephalic mean?”). | Means to adjust the tube to the correct angulation of the needed procedure. If it was 25 degrees cephalic, you would adjust the CR towards the head 25 degree |
| Define Anatomical Terms like caudal, proximal, distal, and their applications in radiographic positioning. | caudal= towards the feet, Proximal=closer from the point of attachment, distal=farther from the point of attachment. These help guide technologist to get the proper visuals frrom the patient and to describe to radiologist how we were positioning |
| List and describe the Two Classifications of the Human Skeleton. | Axial= skull, vertebral column, and rib cage. appendendicular= comprises the limbs and girdles |
| Recognize and explain Body Positions such as Trendelenburg, supine, and recumbent. | recumbent is a position in which the patien is lying down. to get more specific: trendelenburg is when the patient is lying down with their feet above their head and supine is when the patient is lying down but facing up. |
| Identify the Planes of the Body and their importance in radiography. | Sagittal plane divides the left and right portions of the body, mid-sagital equally divides them. Coronal divides the anterior and posterior of the body, mid-coronal equally divides them,. transverse divides the superior and inferior portions of the body. |
| Explain the use of Positioning Landmarks for proper alignment during imaging. | landmarks are used to help guide and find proper allignment when scanning a patient |
| Describe Routine Positions for Upper Extremities and their importance in diagnostic imaging. | knowing the proper positioning for anterior and posterior projections and lateral and oblique techinques help properly and correctly diagnose the patient and examine what is going on |
| Discuss how kVp Adjustments are made for different imaging needs (e.g., fiberglass cast). | kVp controls the energy used to create an image. Alterations are made due to changes in dentisty, thickness, and/or contrast. |
| Explain the purpose of Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) and its role in patient safety | stops/terminates exposure when sufficient radiation reaches the receptor. This helps us with ALARA, the principle to helping the patient! |
| Discuss when and why Grids are used in radiography. | The goal is to stop scatter radiation. Grids are used when the image thickness is above 10cm and the kVp is above 60-70 |
| Identify the Components of the X-ray System (e.g., X-ray tube, generator, image receptor). | 6 main components: X-ray tube, Generator, Control/operating console, image receptor/detector, tub support system, and collimation system |
| Differentiate between types of X-ray Tables and Support Systems | fixed table: stationary, elevating table: adjust height, floating table: goes every direction, trauma table: injured patients, ceiling mounted tube: moves from ceiling, floor mounted tub: moves from floor, u arm:move all together, c-arm: surgery or fluro |
